Delete your account

You can delete your Speak Tongues account at any time, in three ways. Deleting it is permanent and can't be undone.

Three ways to delete it

In the app
Open the Speak Tongues app, go to Account, tap Delete my account, and confirm.

On this website
Go to your account page and sign in with your email (we send you a 6-digit code). At the bottom, under Delete my account, type DELETE to confirm and tap the button.

By email
Write to support@speaktongues.com from the email address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. We'll delete it and reply to confirm within 30 days, usually much sooner. If you write from another address, we'll ask you to confirm that the account is yours first.

Your account: your email address, your name and your language.
Your history: the text of every conversation, group conversation transcript and sign translation.
Your sign-ins on every phone and browser.
Your tab, with any credit left on it. Credit can't be paid out or moved to another account.

Anonymous payment records: the date, the store (Apple or Google), what was bought, the amount and whether it was refunded. They no longer carry your email or name, and are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Payments were made through Apple or Google, which keep their own purchase records under their own privacy policies.

Backups. We make an encrypted backup every night and keep each one for 35 days, so anything deleted is gone from the backups within 35 days.
Our AI provider. OpenAI may keep what it processed for us for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, and then deletes it.
Other people's conversations. If you joined someone else's group conversation, what you said is part of that host's transcript. It stays in their history until they delete it or it's deleted automatically after 30 days.
Transcripts you downloaded are files on your own device; delete them there.
Not ready to delete everything? On your account page you can delete single conversations from your history instead. Everything in it is deleted automatically after 30 days anyway.
